What to Expect

Shadows to Strength invites Dramatherapists and allied professionals to explore how we engage with the “shadows” of group life—those unconscious patterns, systemic tensions, and relational dynamics—and transform them into sources of strength, insight, and collective healing.

As Sue Jennings writes, “The group becomes a microcosm of society, where roles can be explored, challenged, and transformed through dramatic action” (1998). Dramatherapy’s symbolic and relational tools allow for deep exploration of group dynamics, enabling clients to rehearse new ways of being, relating, and belonging.

We also invite critical reflection on the wider systems in which Dramatherapists practise: multidisciplinary teams (MDTs), organisational cultures, and the structures of our professional body, BADth. How do we navigate institutional hierarchies, uphold ethical and creative practice, and contribute to systemic change?

All accepted posters will be displayed throughout the conference, and attendance is not required for your poster to be viewed by delegates, though we encourage you to attend and engage in personal discussion if you can.
