Full Story

The GP Special Interest Group (SIG) for Creative Health invites clinicians and medical educators from all specialties and professions to a seminar exploring the role of art and creativity in medical education. The study day will take place on Thursday 22 January 2026, from 10:00am to 4:00pm GMT, as an in-person event at the York Medical Society.

The day will focus on how creative approaches can support learning across primary care professions—including General Practice (GP), nursing and pharmacy—by deepening understanding of the patient experience, strengthening the human dimension of medicine, and supporting clinician wellbeing and flourishing.

Participants will take part in both small- and large-group discussions on how creativity can help address priorities in the NHS 10 Year Plan, such as health equity and staff wellbeing. The seminar will include experiential learning, shared problem-solving and peer support, with the aim of co-creating a practical toolkit or set of top tips for integrating art and creativity into medical education.

This event is being run by members of the RCGP and NCCH GP SIG for Creative Health and will take place at York Medical Society, a beautiful historic building in the centre of York in the shadow of York Minster, just 15-minute walk from the train station.
